IUB celebrates EEE’s IEB accreditation
To celebrate the IEB-BAETE accredited status, the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized a celebration program at its campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka on Monday, November 27, 2017. The Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and Board of Accreditation for Engineers and Technical Education (BAETE) has awarded accreditation to IUB’s EEE programs recently.
Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Chairman, IEB-BAETE and Vice Chancellor of University of Asia Pacific, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB, Chaired the session.
At the outset, Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, IUB made a presentation on the journey towards obtaining the accreditation and also emphasized the benefits of getting this accreditation.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, illustrated as to how accreditation processes started in Bangladesh in the nineties for civil engineers. IEB is now progressing from its present status as a provisional signatory of the Washington Accord, Prof. Choudhury stated.
Prof. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of IUB talked about standardization of programs, such as, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell. He thanked all the faculty and staff members and students of EEE who were the driving forces behind the accreditation.
Prof Shahriar Khan, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science, IUB, mentioned that the university is looking forward to the accreditation of other programs in the School, and greater participation in the Washington Accord, which may ultimately lead to recognition of Bangladeshi degrees in 20 other countries.
Among others, Trustees of the university, Deans and Heads of the Schools and Departments, members of the faculty and administration and a large number of students were present to celebrate this grand occasion.
Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, IUB delivered the formal vote of thanks.
