‘Brain Engineering’ Seminar at IUB
On the uprising of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based systems being implemented on every other device, the curiosity over AI is immense and the thirst to know on the advancement of AI technology is growing. To serve this desire, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), along with Massive Star Studio Limited and IEEE Student Branch at IUB jointly organized a Seminar titled, ‘Brain Engineering: Opportunities and Feasibilities’. The program held on July 12, 2018 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Engineer SM Mahabub Alam, Managing Director and CEO, Massive Star Studio Limited was the Keynote Speaker while Md. Saiful Islam, Managing Director, Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited was present as Special Guest.
Professor Khosru Mohammad Salim, Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at IUB inaugurated the Seminar with a brief introduction to the Speaker.
Engineer SM Mahabub Alam, through his presentation, focused on three core aspects explicitly, i) what the brain is composed of, ii) functions of the brain, and iii) the future of brain engineering. He also encouraged the students to take up researches on brain engineering. Engineer Alam emphasized that even though the brain engineering concept is very new in Bangladesh, nevertheless, if essential researches are carried out, this could be a revolution in our country.
The 3-hour session was an interactive one that involved the audience on the way to enhancing the learning process. While putting his closing remarks, Md. Saiful Islam highlighted project features of newly launched Bangbabandhu Satellite.
The Seminar ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Md. Kafiul Islam, Assistant Professor, EEE at IUB while Navila Rahman of the same Department conducted the entire program. Senior members of the faculty and management and a large number of students attended this innovative Seminar.
