Team Electric Runner from IUB become Champion at the National Power and Energy Hackathon 2018
The Power & Energy Week 2018 organized by the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources of Bangladesh was held at the International Convention Center Bashundhara during 6–8 September, 2018. The prestigious "National Power & Energy Hackathon 2018" was one of the main competitions of this grand event. A total of 517 teams from all over the country were registered for the Hackathon. After a primary screening, 80 teams were selected for the final round to solve the specific problem given by the Ministry within 30 hours. The final round was held at the North South University during 6–7 September 2018. The judgment was made based on three criterions: (1) going deep into the problem (2) prototyping and (3) sustainability. A 4-member team from the EEE department of IUB named "Electric Runner" lead by Mr. Saurav Das dealt with the problem titled "Eliminating Harmonic Injection to the Power Grid while Electric Vehicle Battery Charging" and solved the problem successfully within the stipulated 30 hours time. The team Electric Runner got the highest marks in each judgment category and grabbed the 1st position with the Prize Money of Taka 50,000.
