A “Career Meet Up @ Dhaka” program was held on 15th February, 2019 at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). The day-long program was organized by the "School of Engineers" in association with IEEE IUB Student Branch, IEEE IAS IUB Student Branch Chapter, IEEE Computer Society IUB Student Branch Chapter and IEEE IUB SB WIE Affinity Group. The Managing Director of DESCO Brig. General (Retired) Shahid Sarwar was the chief guest of the program. He was present with Engr. Salim Ullah Khan Belal from the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral resources also spoke on the event as a special guest. The future engineers from 12 different universities (both public & private), who are seeking jobs, attended the event. A mock recruitment test for DESCO has been taken at the beginning of the program. IUB was the strategic partner and Dhaka Live was the media partner of this event.
The Executive Engineer of DESCO, Engr AKM Akhtaruzzaman, describe the various career opportunities available at DESCO. He also described about the ways and steps required for the upcoming future. The AGM of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, Engr. Hasan Mahmud, provided the information on the opportunities handed over to the engineers in the Power Sector. Engr Kamal Hossain (25th batch), Deputy Station Engineer Bangladesh Betar, informed the BCS opportunities and how to be a BCS Cadre.
Dr. Mahady Hasan, Assistant Professor and Head of CSE department of IUB, also addressed to the engineers about the upcoming opportunities and how to shape themselves for that. Following all that Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Associate Professor of EEE department and branch mentor of IEEE IUB Student Branch deliver a motivational and inspirational speech to the Engineers.
All the guests, speakers, participants from different universities were given a token of appreciation by the hosts. The guests and speakers were provided with a crest as a souvenir to thank them for taking out some time out of their hectic schedule.
