A seminar on Hardware Development for AI/Deep-Neural Computation held at EEE department
Artificial Intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence (MI), is intelligence demonstrated by machines. As the demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) is projected to rise rapidly in the coming years, and it’s interfering with basically every major industry, and as these systems do more and more complex tasks, they demand more computation power from hardware. AI has the potential to vastly change the way that humans interact, not only with the digital world, but also with each other, through their work and other socioeconomic institutions. Convolutional networks (ConvNets) have many new applications in speech recognition, language translation, object detection, etc. With regard to all these, a seminar on “Hardware Development for AI/Deep-Neural Network Computation” was held at the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department of Independent University, Bangladesh on February 20, 2019.
The seminar was conducted by Khondakar Ahmed Mujtaba, Senior Principal Design Engineer, Candence Design Systems Inc. in USA. Around 75 students and faculty members attended the seminar. The seminar was organized by IEEE IAS IUB Student Branch Chapter along with IEEE IUB Student Branch.
Dr. Khosru M. Salim, Professor and Head of Department of EEE, IUB, welcomed and introduced the speaker to the audience. The seminar ended with the formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Feroz Ahmed, Associate Professor of EEE department of IUB. A token of appreciation was presented to the speaker by Dr. Khosru M. Salim, Professor and Head of EEE department of IUB.
