5th International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering Inaugurated at IUB
With a grand opening ceremony, 3-day long 5th International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE) has stared at the Independent University, Bangladesh. The inaugural ceremony of ICAEE took place on September 26, 2019 at the IUB Audotrium in Bashundhara R/A Dhaka that has been organized by the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering of the University.
Dr. Saifur Rahman, President, IEEE Power and Energy Society & Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech, USA was the Chief Guest of inaugural session. Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, Chief Patron, ICAEE 2019 and Prof. Milan Pagon, Vice Chancellor (Acting) also delivered their speeches to the dignitaries. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Conference General Chair and Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section and Professor of BUET remain present and talked to the audience.
The Chief Guest stated that what the engineers do must be visible to the society and ensure human welfare. He urged the teachers to be involved more in research works. Highlighted the wonders of electrical engineering, Mr. A Matin Chowdhury said, new technology and technological ideas are changing the world so fast, even, it is being changed in every minute. So, we need to learn how to cope with these rapid changes and adopt future technology, he added.
Prof. Mohammed Anwer, Dean, SECS at IUB gave welcome address while Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Organizing Chair, ICAEE 2019 delivered vote of thanks.
ICAEE aims to bring together academician, scientists, engineers, researchers and students to share their experiences on the latest research, current practices and future trends in the field of electrical engineering and related areas, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. This year total 550 papers were submitted from 19 countries to present in the conference. After a rigorous double blind review process, only 171 papers were accepted for the presentation.
During the 3-day Conference, eminent professionals from home and abroad will chair different sessions. Prof. Joyashree Roy, 2007-IPCC Noble Peace Prize winning team member and Bangabandhu Chair Professor, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand will also be presenting her paper titled ‘Strengthening Global Climate Response: What is in it for Bangladesh’.
During the inaugural session, Members from the faculty and administration, students and distinguished guests were present enthusiastically.
