IUB faculty delivers speech at UIU
Advanced Intelligent Multidisciplinary Systems Lab (AIMS Lab), Bangladesh Research and Awareness Initiative of Neuroscience and United International University (UIU) jointly organized a 5-day “2nd IBRO-APRC Bangladesh Associate School of Translational Neuroscience and Research” from December 4-8, 2019 at the UIU campus. The aim of this 5-day long 2nd IBRO-APRC School was to provide a platform for postgraduate (Masters and PhD) and undergraduate (MBBS, Biomedical Engineering, and other related disciplines) students (from Bangladesh and the Asia-Pacific region) who are interested in the field of neuroscience to expand their understanding of basic neuroscience and neural engineering, and translate this knowledge into clinical neuroscience for researching and developing novel therapies for intervention and rehabilitation of neural diseases.
Among 16 invited speakers, Dr. Md Kafiul Islam, senior member of IEEE and Assistant Professor, EEE at IUB talked on December 5, 2019 on “State-of-the-Art EEG Signal Processing Techniques in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Neurological Diseases”. . More than 40 participants from home and abroad attended the session. Dr. Islam widely gave an overview of signal processing methods used in EEG signal processing and how the processing is important for correct diagnosis of different neurological diseases (e.g. Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, depression, cognitive impairment, Encephalopathy, etc.) as well as their treatments. Later, a lively question-answer session took place.
