Seminar on Professional Ethics in Engineering
A seminar on "Professional Ethics" was held at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on Tuesday, 2 June 2015. Faculty, staff and students attended the hour-long seminar hosted in the Lecture Gallery at the School of Engineering & Computer Science(SECS).
The invited speaker for the seminar was Dr. Muhammad Harun-ur Rashid, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of West Florida. Dr. Rashid is a leading academic in the field of Electronics with his books being published and used in several languages. Dr. Ali Shihab Sabbir, Dean of School of Engineering & Computer Science, gave the welcome address to start off the event. Dr. Rashid spoke about the types of moral dilemmas and unethical practices that Engineering and IT professionals must face in their work life. He went on to talk about the code of ethics that professionals need to adhere to when faced with such situations. Dr. Rashid concluded the seminar by inviting the audience to discuss a couple of sample problems in professional ethics with him.
The seminar was jointly organized by the IEEE IUB Student Branch and Jukti, Club of Computer Science & Engineering.
