The Department of Law at IUB organized advocacy Seminar titled ``Information Gateway through Public-Private Interface: RTI at a crossroad and the way forward’’ on January 28, 2020. Dr. Shamsul Bari from Research Initiatives, Bangladesh (RIB) was the Chief Guest of the program. Dr. Bari highlighted the objectives of the Right to Information (RTI) Act and underscored that RTI is to empower the citizens of Bangladesh by promoting transparency and accountability with the ultimate aim of decreasing corruption and establishing good governance in our democratic society in true sense. He also discussed legal aspects of RTI and the roles that citizens need to play to achieve the goals of the act. Following the presentation, the floor was open for a question-answer session where students participated actively. Prof. Imtiaz A Hussain, Dean (Acting), School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, IUB formally opened the Seminar. Prof. Borhan Uddin Khan, Head, Department of Law also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Parvez Sattar conducted the event. Full-house students of the Department of Law at IUB took part in this Seminar. Students who worked jointly with RIB to achieve RTI goals effectively did receive appreciation crests for their significant contributions.
