Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Bangladesh, it has been difficult for the underprivileged people across the country to cope up with the basic necessities of life. In this unfortunate situation, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at IUB (DEA IUB) has taken various initiatives to contribute for the wellbeing of society.
During the lockdown in Dhaka, with the supervision of Mr. Saiful Kabir, Coordinator, DEA IUB and members of DEA IUB distributed food packets to the underprivileged people who were affected badly in the pandemic. Each food packet would support a four-member family to consume proper daily meals for about 20 days. The relief package was distributed amongst 200+ families across different affected areas of Dhaka City like Jatrabari, Keraniganj, Jurain, Dolaipar, Daskhinkhan, Gulshan and Banani. Moreover, many members personally helped needy people at their respective housing areas as the part of DEA IUB’s social activity.
Besides, they took a disinfection program where the members themselves sprayed bleaching powder mixture at the crowded places of Keraniganj, Shuvadda, Kaliganj, Aganagar, Ambagicha, Daakpara and Chunkutiya. They also distributed PPE and Face Masks at various local hospitals of Keraniganj.
DEA IUB is always committed to help the society.
