To celebrate ‘Mujib Centenary’ – the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has taken up & implementing various activities round the year. As part of it, a series of Webinars have been organized while three of them have implemented by now very successfully.
The very first Webinar took place on August 17, 2020 on ‘Bangabandhu's Vision of a Secular Bangladesh’. Dr. Dipu Moni, M.P., Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was the Chief Guest of the program. The Event was broadcasted LIVE on DBC News TV and IUB YouTube & Facebook page.
Dr. Kamal Chowdhury, Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister; Professor Fakrul Alam, UGC Professor; Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB and Mr. Abdul Hai Sarker, Chairman, ESTCDT, the Founding Trust of IUB were there among the other respected discussants. Mr. Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider, Vice Chancellor (Acting) and Treasurer, IUB delivered Vote of Thanks. Dr. Dipu Moni, in her speech, emphasized on imparting quality higher education to ensure overall development and build a prosperous nation. And Bangabandhu’s ideology of secularism can lead achieving this goal remarkably, the Education Minister underscored. The Event was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Ahsanuzzaman, Professor, Department of English, IUB.
The second IUB Webinar on ‘Bangabandhu’s Dream of Bangladesh and 2020’ held on August 19, 2020. Ambassador (Ret) Muhammad Zamir, Former Secretary & Chief Information Commissioner; Mr. ASM Ali Kabir, Former Secretary, Ministry of Communications; and Professor Nasreen Ahmed, former Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Dhaka were the discussants of the program who highlighted Bangabandhu's pioneering role in building a progressive, all-inclusive, democratic and sovereign Bangladesh. Mr. Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider, Vice Chancellor (Acting) and Treasurer, IUB delivered Vote of Thanks while Prof. Zakir Hossain Raju, Head, Department of Media and Communication at IUB moderated the Event.
The Webinar was transmitted LIVE on Prothom Alo Digital alongside IUB YouTube & Facebook page.
The third IUB Webinar was held on August 22, 2020 with the title, ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh – His vision of an Independent Bangladesh’s role in the region and the world’. This Event was also broadcasted LIVE on DBC News TV and IUB Facebook & YouTube channel.
Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, M.P., Honorable Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Minister illustrated Bangabandhu’s foreign policy in detail that is still essential to make the entire world triumphant, Dr. Momen emphasized on. Mr. Abdul Hai Sarker, Chairman, ESTCDT, the Founding Trust of IUB and Prof. Imtiaz A. Hussain, Dean (Acting), School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences at IUB also joined in the discussions on Bangabandhu’s versatile progressive thoughts & strategies to make Bangladesh a friendly & liberal country in the region as well as the whole world.
