IUB holds Online Academic Award Ceremony 2020
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) awarded its most talented students through a virtual ceremony held on October 7, 2020 evening. Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, MP, Honorable Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education was the Chief Guest of the program.
Along with him, Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB; Prof. Milan Pagon, Vice Chancellor (Acting), IUB; and Deans of five different Schools also spoke on the occasion.
Welcome speech was given by Mr. Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar, IUB while Mr. Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider, Treasurer, IUB delivered the vote of thanks.
In his speech, the Minister said, there are lots of limitations and challenges in online education system. COVID-19 has also provided us the opportunity to maximize the use of existing infrastructure and resources. Learning how to learn is one of the most important aspects in our ‘new normal’ education system, Mr. Chowdhoury underscored.
Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, urged IUB students to come up with viable solutions for tackling all anticipated problems. He thanked faculties for producing quality manpower through its students with essential skills that will help prospering the nation.
Bring out the best of every student is the key at IUB, Prof. Milan Pagon, the Vice Chancellor (Acting) stated in his speech. The purpose of this award ceremony is not only for recognition, but also to encourage in reaching the pinnacle of glory, he mentioned.
IUB Academic Awards were given in two different categories among five different groups. Those are, Dean’s List, Dean’s Merit List, Dean’s Honour List, Vice Chancellor’s List and Vice Chancellor’s Honor List. This year, 470 students for Spring 2019, 485 students for Summer 2019 and 571 students for Autumn 2019 semester which is about 8% of total enrollment of each semester were recognized. Certificates and Award vouchers were also distributed among 190 students for being on Dean’s Honor List and Vice Chancellor’s Honor List for semesters of the Year 2019.
