BAETE Board renews accreditation for IUB's EEE and ETE Programs
The accreditation of IUB's undergraduate (B.Sc.) programs EEE and ETE has been renewed for two years (until Jan 2024) by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering & Technical Education (BAETE) under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). EEE and ETE are the first and only programs in Bangladesh to have been accredited by BAETE based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Manual Version 2.
This latest version of the manual addresses Knowledge Profile, Complex Engineering Problems and Complex Engineering Activities. The two-year accreditation was awarded after the IUB programs went through an extensive and detailed application process, followed by hybrid (online plus on-campus) visits by a BAETE team comprising three evaluators and seven observers.
Recently, Dr. Nazmul Ahasan, Registrar of BAETE, handed over the Certificates of Accreditation to Prof. Feroz Ahmed, the Head of the IUB's EEE department. IUB's EEE and ETE programs were first accredited by BAETE (based on version 0) in July 2017 for three years, which have now been extended for another 2 years.
Currently, Bangladesh is a provisional signatory of the Washington Accord. Established in 1989, Washington Accord is an international accreditation agreement for undergraduate professional engineering academic degrees between the bodies responsible for accreditation in its signatory countries and regions. If Bangladesh becomes a full signatory as expected, then accredited programs here will become accredited under the Washington Accord.
