The new generation has a much bigger responsibility than the freedom fighters

The new generation of today has a bigger role to play than the freedom fighters because they have the responsibility of taking Bangladesh to the next level of prosperity, said Freedom Fighter Mr. Didar A Hossain.
He made the remark while speaking at a program titled "1971 Genocide and our War of Liberation: A Freedom Fighter's Conversation with Young Students" at the Auditorium on the campus of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in the capital's Bashundhara R/A on Thursday, March 24, 2022. The program was organized by the IUB Library to mark 25th of March, the Genocide Day.
During the event, Mr. Didar A Hossain, also a member of the IUB Board of Trustees, replied to a number of questions about the War of Liberation, guerilla warfare, what motivated the young men of that time to lay their lives for their country, and so on. He also visited the Bangabandhu and Liberation War Corner at the IUB Library.
In his speech, IUB Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, said one of the main reasons why Bangladesh emerged victorious in 1971 was because it was a common people's war. More specifically, it was a war that was owned and fought by the working class people.
IUB Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD, said the glorious War of Liberation of 1971 was the basis of the very existence of Bangalee as a nation. Therefore, everyone has to come back to the War of Liberation, the greatest source of inspiration.
IUB Trustees Dr. Husne Ara Ali and Mr. A Quaiyum Khan, the Deans of the five IUB schools and senior members of the factulty and adminisration attended the program. IUB Librarian Mr. Muhammad Hossam Haider Chowdhury delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Hasan Saimum Wahab, Assistant Director at the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, conducted the program.
