EEE Students visited Switchgear and Protection Lab at IUT
A total of 35 students from the Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) department of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB)visited the Switchgear and Protection Lab of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) on 28 March, 2014 as part of the practical session of their theory courses EEE402 (Electrical Transmission & Distribution) and EEE490 (Switchgear & Protection). The Head of the EEE department of IUT, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahid Ullah officially welcomed the students and faculty members of IUB, and gave a brief introduction about what they were to be explored in the LABs. This reception was followed by the powerful demonstration of Engr. Masudur Rahman, Supervisor of Machine Lab, on special topics and equipments such as Oil Circuit Breaker, Oil Circuit Recloser, Vacuum Circuit Breaker, Air Circuit Breaker, Magnetic Contactor Operation, Overload Test, Relay Operation including: shunt trip release, undervoltage release, magnetic release and thermal relay. The visit was ended by giving students the opportunity to explore IUT’s indoor substation which uses complete underground cables. The students had the fortune to visit other sophisticated labs in IUT e.g. Mechanical Lab, Automotive and Heat Transfer Lab, Foundry Shop and Machine shop. The tour to IUT was conducted by 3 faculty members of the EEE department of IUB: Dr. Shahriar Khan, Mr. Shoaib Shahriar and Mr. Samir Ahmed Khan Majlish. The entire tour was hosted by Rakibul Hasan Sagor, Assistant Professor of EEE department of IUT.
