IUB hosted career talk with Therap (BD)
Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), IUB has organized an industry session with Therap (BD) on career building titled “Build Your Tomorrow with Therap” on March 2, 2023, at IUB campus. There were three different sessions consecutively with the Dean (Interim), students, and faculty members of the School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences. Therap (BD) team expressed their interest to collaborate with Fab Lab, IUB during the interaction session with the Dean (Interim). The student session was started with the welcoming speech by IUB’s Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD. Dr. Mahady Hasan, Dean (Interim) of School of Engineering & Head of the CSE Department along with other faculty members were present in the session. In the Inaugural speech IUB’s Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD highlighted the initiatives taken by IUB such as Coding for All, Industry Academia Collaboration, etc.
Major General M. Shamim Chowdhury, Director of HR and Vital Assets of Therap (BD) took the floor and spoke about company culture, work environment and facilities provided to the Therap (BD) employees.
Therap (BD) is a Software company headquartered in the USA and the company has its own office located in Dhaka. Therap mainly develops innovative solutions for mankind specially for the people who have disabilities and facing challenges due to aging. Mr. Richard A. Robbins, Managing Director of Therap (BD) talked about different products of Therap (BD) including 70 different modules of software and 11 patents. Then, Technical team members of Therap (BD) talked about the opportunities in Therap (BD) and how the graduates can prepare themselves for that. Finally, the Interactive session with the students ended successfully through a Q&A session. Then Therap team joined in a different session with the faculty members for exchanging their views to the graduate readability for the industry. In that session, they mentioned that the fresh graduates lack framework knowledge as well as fundamentals of Computer Science such as data structure, algorithm, and database. The faculty members mentioned that they have already taken some initiatives to address the issues which will improve the graduate readiness for the industry. At the end of the session, Dr. Mahady Hasan, Dean (Interim) of School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences & Head of the CSE Department presented vote of thanks.
