IEEE IUB Student Branch Members Visit Energypac® Electronics
A group of 39 students and one faculty members from the Electrical & Electronic (EEE) Engineering Department of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) visited Energypac® Electronics Limited on 20 February, 2014 as a part of their academic programme. IEEE IUB Student Branch arranged this industrial tour, and the participations were mainly limited to the IEEE student members. In this trip to one of the largest energy savings lamp makers in Bangladesh, students were accompanied by the IEEE IUB Student Branch counselor and Associate Professor of EEE department Dr. Abdur Razzak. During the visit, the students were briefed on the step-by-step production process of CFL & LED lamps, electronic ballast, electronic fan regulator and MK switches and multi-plug sockets by the factory engineers. The question and answer session provided good insight into the operations of these important electronic devices. The trip also continued to different testing laboratories to test the EMI effects, luminance of CFL & LED lamps, switching test of MK switches and multi-plug sockets and their cost effectiveness. On the whole, the trip was an excellent opportunity for the students of EEE & ETE majors to find practical applications of their classroom-based knowledge.
