3rd ICAEE 2015 held at IUB (with video)
The 3rd International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE) 2015 held at the Bashundhara campus of Independent University, Bangladesh during 17-19 December 2015. The 3-day conference was inaugurated by Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for Energy, Power & Mineral Resources Affairs, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Ferdinand von Weyhe, Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangladesh, Prof. M. Rezwan Khan, Vice Chancellor, United International University and Prof. Datin Dr. Rubiyah Yusof, Dean, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia spoke on the occasion as Special Guests. Mr S M Al-Husainy and Mr. Wajid Ali Khan Panni, the members of board of trustees of Independent University, Bangladesh, Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Independent University, Bangladesh, Engr. Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, President, The Institute of Engineers Bangladesh, David B, Droucher, President, IEEE Industrial Application Society, Prof. Ljiljana Trajkovic, President, IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetic Society, Prof. Shahriar khan, Interim Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science and Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Chair, Organizing Committee, ICAEE 2015 also spoke on the inaugural ceremony among others. After the inauguration, guests were roaming around and observe the projects developed by CSE and EEE students of IUB.
Starting from 2011, Independent University, Bangladesh organizes this international conference every alternate year. This year 6 invited and keynote speakers from USA, Canada, Australia and Malaysia spoke at ICAEE 2015. Nearly 300 papers from 9 countries including Australia, Bangladesh, China India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and USA have been submitted to the conference. After a rigorous review by the experts, a total of 90 papers (61 local and 29 foreign) were finally accepted for presentation in the conference. The acceptance rate is nearly 33% which reflects the quality maintained in this conference. The authors presented their papers in 3 parallel technical sessions.
On day-2, Dr. Peter Magyar, Fellow IEEE and Chair, Chapter and Membership Development, IEEE Industrial Application Society spoke on the IEEE Session.. The participants were gathered and joined the conference dinner and Dr. Fatema Rashid award ceremony at the Restaurant Baton Rouge on the same day. Prof. Ljiljana Trajkovic, President, IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetic Society and professor of Simon Fraser University, Canada was the Chief Guest and Engr. Nurul Aktar, Director and CEO of Energypac Electronics Ltd. was the Special Guest at the award ceremony. The chif patron of ICAEE 2015 and Vice Chancellor, Independent University, Bangladesh, foreign guests and different unit's Heads & Deans and higher officials from IUB were also joined the conference banquet dinner and the best paper award ceremony.
On the last day of the conference, the foreign participants enjoyed a half-day city tour. The members of IEEE IUB Students Branch were attended on and helped to organize the event as volunteers.
