Seminar on Space Engineering Research and Education held at IUB

A seminar comprising two technical talks on Space and Satellite Engineering Research and Education and satellite project opportunities was held at the department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on Thursday, 29 March 2016 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The titles of the talks were: “How to start your satellite program-Introduction to Space Engineering Research and Education at Kyutech”, and “Joint Global Multi-Nation Birds (JGMNB)”-a satellite project for non-space faring countries”. The seminar was organized by IEEE IUB student branch. The seminar started with an opening address by Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head, Dept. of EEE, IUB. Dr. George Maeda, Assistant Professor, LaSEINE laboratory, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan was the speaker of the event. In his speech, Dr. Maeda spoke about the space environment, explained how satellite and space research is done in the LaSEINE laboratory. His topics also include different machineries and equipments used for satellite making, testing and deploying, charge transportation through insulator Patch Antenna, analog electronic circuits, EPS for nano-satellite, etc. Later he introduced Kyutech’s Space Engineering Research and Education program. He explained how the students of IUB can join the prestigious and attractive research program. In the second talk he introduced JGMNB satellite project, and how Bangladesh can join the project and launch her own satellite. The seminar was accomplished with a very interactive Q&A session. Around 120 students and the faculty members from the Dept. of EEE & CSE participated in the seminar. The seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Branch Counselor, IEEE IUB Student Branch.
