A seminar on “Application of Distributed Multi-Agent System for Enhancing the Security of Emerging Smart Grids” was held at the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Dr. Md. Shihanur Rahman from Deakin University, Australia was the speaker of the event. Dr. Rahman spoke about how intelligent grid system and renewable energy sources can work in order to develop protected system giving protection from “Cyber-attacks”. He also emphasized that the integration of information and communication technologies into the existing power grids has made cyber-physical systems subject to various cyber-threats. He also demonstrated the impacts of cyber threats and how the distributed multi-agent system will ensure reliable smart grid infrastructures and development of a stable, reliable, secure and sustainable smart grid. Approximately 95 students and faculty members were present at the seminar. Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head of EEE department introduced the speaker and accorded a token of appreciation to the speaker. The seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, the counselor of IEEE IUB Branch. The seminar was organized by IEEE IUB Student Branch, IEEE IUB Industry Application Society (IAS), and IEEE IUB Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group.
