EEE department hosts a seminar on "Advanced Sensors and Instrumentations”
A seminar on “Advanced Sensors and Instrumentation Systems for U-Health Care Applications” was held at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on 14 February 2017. Prof. V .R. Singh, Life Fellow of IEEE, from the National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India was the speaker of the seminar. Prof. Singh has over 35 years of research and teaching experience in India and abroad. He has over 300 papers, 250 talks, 4 books, 14 patents and 30 consultancies to his credit. Prof. Shahriar Khan, Dean of School of Engineering and Computer Science, gave the welcome address to start off the event. Prof. Singh spoke on how the design and development of piezo-electric, piezo-resistive and piezo-composite types of sensor systems can make a revolution in ubiquitous-Healthcare (U-Healthcare) applications. During his talk, Prof. Singh focused on U-Healthcare programs that will provide tele-healthcare of the patients at lower cost and quicker time. Prof. Singh concluded by saying that this sensor device application will help old age patients to lead a better life and advance the medical field to a new level. Approximately 90 students and faculty members attended the seminar. Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head of EEE department accorded a token of appreciation to the speaker. The seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, the counselor of IEEE IUB Student Branch. The seminar was jointly organized by IEEE IUB Student Branch, IEEE IUB Industry Application Society (IAS) and IEEE IUB Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group.
