Independent University, Bangladesh in association with Shadhona, a centre for the advancement of South Asian culture hosted an engrossing and enchanting Sitar Recital Evening performed by renowned sitar player Irshad Khan on March 10, 2017 at IUB Auditorium in Bashundhara, Dhaka. During his two hours performance, this eminent sitar player made the audience spellbound through various ragas.
Irshad Khan is the son of Ustad Imrat Khan and nephew of Ustad Vilayat Khan, the highly acknowledged classical musicians of the sub-continent. He was born in Kolkata and now lives in Canada. As one of the foremost representatives of the Imdadkhani Etawa Gharana, Irshad Khan is internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading sitar players and as the leading surbahar (bass sitar) exponent of his generation. He performs pure classical, folk, world-beat and new age music and so far performed in over 30 nations including India, Europe, the Middle East, Russia, the Far East and North America.

Ashraf Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Finance Committee, Board of Trustees; Mr. Wajid Ali Khan Panni, Member, Board of Trustees; Mr. D P Barua, Member, ESTCDT; Mr. Md Tanveer Madar, Member, ESTCDT; Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB; Deans and senior members of the faculty and management of IUB.
After the program, IUB had given crests and token of appreciations to the famous sitar player Irshad Khan, his associate and representative of Shadhona.
