A seminar on space instrumentation and electronics was held at SECS on
March 13. The speaker was Tom Berge, a doctoral candidate at the
University at Oslo. He spoke of Instrumentation for rockets and
satellites, the space environment, radiation effects on electronic
components, and new space applications.
Mr. Berge has been in the electronics design industry for a decade and his experience ranges from large corporations like Ericsson to the tech startup Energy Micro (acquired by Silicon Labs in 2013).
The speaker was introduced by the dean, Prof. S. Khan and the Head EEE gave some background on the electronics research being conducted in the EEE department. There was discussion of possible collaboration of SECS and IUB in research with University of Oslo, and sending a nanosatellite into space.
