SLS Career Forum conducted by Mr. Towhid Khan, Deputy Manager, Office of Professional Development at BYLC
The School of Life Sciences (SLS) and International Center for Biotechnology and Health (ICBH) organized their third session of Career Forum on June 8, 2017. The idea of Career Forum has been to expose the students of SLS to eminent personalities in the field of Biological Sciences in order for students to get insights into future prospects and challenges. This time, the forum took a different approach and invited Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), to share with the students, the importance of leadership skills in their professional worlds. As the key speaker, Mr. Towhid Khan, Deputy Manager, Office of Professional Development at BYLC conducted the session. The BYLC team engaged the students into team exercises, through which they learned about the Four-Player Model of life. They were made aware of the different roles they tend to play on a daily basis without much realization and how such roles are crucial once they step into their career fields, with the desire of climbing up the ladder of success. Mr. Towhid also pointed out how important it is to gain diverse skills outside their bubble, in order to get ahead of others in the competitive market. It was an interactive session, which mobilized the thinking capacity of the students, and they were eager to learn more from the team, through exercises as well as motivational lectures, in the future.
