President of IEEE Power & Energy Society Speaks at IUB
Professor Saifur Rahman, the current president (2016-2017) and the president-elect (2018-2019) of IEEE Power & Energy Society speaks at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on 4th July 2017. Dr. Saifur Rahman, Joseph R. Loring professor of electrical and computer engineering of Virginia Tech University, USA is the first Asian to become the elected president of the prestigious IEEE Power & Energy Society. He is the founding director of the Advanced Research Institute at Virginia Tech. His talk title at IUB was the “Prospect of Getting Involved in IEEE Power & Energy Society”. Prof. Shahriar Khan, the dean of school of engineering and computer science introduced the speaker to the audience. Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, the head of electrical and electronic engineering (EEE) department welcomed the speaker and handed over a token of appreciation from the EEE department. Later, Prof. Rahman met the acting vice chancellor and the pro-vice chancellor of IUB, Prof. Milan Pagan where he discussed about the possible academic collaboration between IUB and Virginia Tech. Prof. Rahman also met with the senior faculty members of school of engineering and computer science. The seminar was jointly organized by IEEE Bangladesh Section, IEEE IUB Student Branch, IEEE IUB Industry Application Society (IAS).
