Education Minister inaugurates Nazrul-Abbasuddin Research Center at IUB
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP formally inaugurated the Kazi Nazrul Islam and Abbasuddin Ahmed Research & Study Centre at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on 26 June 2012. In a simple ceremony, the Minister also inaugurated a photography exhibition arranged by the newly established centre at the Multipurpose Hall of the university. A total of 125 photographs depicting the lives of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and singer Abbasuddin Ahmed are being displayed. The centre also honored Prof. Rafiqul Islam, Uma Kazi, and renowned singer Ferdousi Rahman on the occasion. Mr. Nahid, in his short speech, appreciated the initiative and congratulated IUB on its various achievements as one of the first generation private universities of the country. He wished a flourishing future of IUB. Mostofa Zaman Abbasi, senior research fellow and the convener of the centre described the reasons worked behind establishing such a centre at IUB. Mr. Towhid Samad, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB and Prof. M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB also spoke on the occasion. Associate Prof. Akimun Rahman of IUB gave vote of thanks. IUB students rendered Nazrul shangeet and two renowned songs sung by Abbasuddin Ahmed to celebrate the occasion.
