Seminar by Academy Award Winner Nafees Bin Zafar

A seminar on visual effects and animation was organized on Friday 22nd November, 2013. Department of Computer Science & Engineering within the School of Engineering & Computer Science organized the seminar.  The key speaker for the event was world renowned visual effects specialist Nafees Bin Zafar.

Nafees Bin Zafar, a proud Bangladeshi, has won the Scientific and Technical Academy Awards (OSCAR) in 2008 for his contribution in the development of the fluid simulation system in the movie: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End’. This influential and flexible production-proven system incorporates innovative algorithms and refined adaptations of published methods to achieve large-scale water effects.

Mrs Luna Shamsuddoha, Vice Chairman of IUB’s Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT) spoke on the occasion. Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees and other members of Board of Trustees were present at the seminar.  The event was also attended by a good number of people from the press and media. Professor M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB delivered the welcome address and Dr. Ali Shihab Sabbir, Dean of School of Engineering and Computer Science conducted the seminar and gave the vote of thanks.
