| A visiting delegation from Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania, USA, took part in an interactive session with teachers and scholars in the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on June 2, 2011. Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) Professor Omar Rahman welcomed the Muhlenberg College delegates to the IUB permanent campus in Bashundhara. Professor Rahman said, IUB offers quality higher education in Bangladesh and it upholds the liberal arts heritage. He lauded the Muhlenberg faculty and students’ deep interest in climate change and other related issues of Bangladesh. Acting Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) and Head of the Department of Media and Communication Dr. GM Shahidul Alam moderated the session which discussed and analyzed kaleidoscopic issues including climate change, state of media and communication, sustainability, micro-credit and development of Bangladesh. Dean of the School of Environmental Sciences and Management (SESM) Professor Harun Er Rashid, Assistant Professor of Anthropology Dr Mahbub Alam, Chair of the Political Science Department of Muhlenberg College Professor Giacomo Gambino, Associate Professor of Muhlenberg College Dr S. Mohsin Hashim and Associate Dean of the School of Public Health of IUB Dr Rita Yusuf, among others, answered the questions of the visiting US students.
