“30 December 2011, was the 1^st death anniversary of late Professor Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) who breathed his last on Thursday, 30^th December, 2010. Professor Chowdhury was a prominent educationist who was the first Vice Chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He started his tenure at IUB in 1994 as Vice Rector. In 1997 he was appointed Vice Chancellor and remained in this position till his death in 2010. Prior to joining IUB he served as Chairman of the Department of Sociology at Rajshahi University from 1976 to 1977 and as Dean of Student Affairs from 1982 to 1985. From 1990 to 1992, Dr. Chowdhury was a Professor of sociology and Registrar at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
