The Department of Environmental Science of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized a day-long Environmental Science Colloquium titled Scientific Thinking to Combat Future Challenges on the 28 March, 2012 at its permanent campus at Bashundhara, Dhaka. Prof. M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. M Ali Hossain, Head, Department of Environmental Science and Chair of Organizing Committee, delivered the welcome speech and said that the colloquium was organized to encourage the students. After the opening ceremony the Vice Chancellor inaugurated the project based poster exhibition designed by freshmen of Environmental Science.

A total of three hundred students in forty groups participated in the project based poster exhibition.

Among other, Professor M Lutfor Rahman and Dr Abdul Khaleque, Asst Professor, IUB, spoke on the occasion and discussed on the importance of studying environmental science.
