Currently like other private universities, approximately 69% of the student enrollment is in business related subjects reflecting market demands. IUB is committed however to providing a diverse set of curricular offerings and is rapidly expanding its portfolio to include in the next two years subjects such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Sociology, Architecture, Government and Political Science, Public Policy and Pharmacy.
Aside from teaching, IUB is committed to supporting research. The Centre for Health, Population and Development (CHPD) at IUB, is a university wide centre which co-ordinates and facilitates research, scholarly activities, and policy dialogue in the multi-faceted relationships between development, health and population. It has faculty associates both from within and outside IUB and sponsors a regular research seminar series, periodic international conferences on important themes and produces a working papers series.
|To support research and training on cutting edge issues of national and global importance, IUB in collaboration with Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies and International Institute for Environment and Development, UK, has set up an International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD). ICCCAD will be able to draw on the extensive resources of IUB across a range of disciplines relevant to climate change and development.|
|The university has recently established a constituent Bangla Language Institute (BLI) which will conduct Bangla Language Teaching program for students from anywhere around the world throughout the year and cater to the requirement of peace corps, Fulbright critical language enhancement award, Fulbright language teaching assistant , foreign language studies and short course for NGOs and members of the diplomatic corps. Meanwhile it has an ongoing summer Bangla language teaching program for students from American Universities conducted by Bangla Summer Institute (BSI) under BLI in association with Council of American Overseas Research Centers. |

Under these programs a student can complete 2 years of BBA/ Media Communication program at IUB and then get a transfer to the respective partner university and complete the remaining two years over there. |

IUB’s pioneering program, Live-in-Field Experience, where students get a distinctive opportunity to learn about rural life, complement the unique course, National Culture and Heritage, a comprehensive study of the history, society and culture of Bangladesh.
