Outreach Program ‘Youth and Environment’ by SESM at BACHA English Medium School

‘Youth and Environment’ workshop is an outreach initiative of School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM), in collaboration with the Outreach, Extension and Continuing Education (OECE), Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor, aiming to raise awareness among the youths about issues and problems threatening our environment and life on the planet. In this regard, to conduct the workshop a team of four faculty members from SESM visited ‘BACHA English Medium School’ on September 6, 2018.

Mr. Tanvir Ahmed Haroon (Lecturer) started the workshop by showing an informative video on current situation of environmental pollution and SESM’s different programs to contribute to minimizing the causes and effects of the pollution in Bangladesh. Ms. Karishma Sinha (Lecturer), Dr. Tawhid Manzur (Lecturer) and Mr. Saquib Ahmad Khan (Lecturer) then continued the workshop addressing various important aspects of environment, e.g., the effects of using plastics, chemical pollution etc. The workshop was followed by an interactive question-answer session.

Sister Miriam Perlewitz, MM – the principal of BACHA English Medium School was present in the workshop and everyone was impressed by IUB as an institution and its contribution to motivate the students to think, discuss the solutions, and raise environmental awareness. They expect more such workshops and programs from IUB in the future. Moreover, the team of IUB was delighted to find a group of IUB’s alumni working as BACHA’s faculty members.
