‘Youth Participation in Conservation (YPC)’ Program in Barguna

In their continuing efforts to spread awareness and education to the remotest corners of the nation to save the environment, the Department of Environmental Science, School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) in collaboration with the Outreach, Extension and Continuing Education (OECE) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized the third ‘Youth Participation in Conservation (YPC)’ workshop in Mokamia, Betagi in the district of Barguna.

The two-day workshop that took place on the 15th and 16th of March, 2019, entailed not only making the participants aware of the importance of conservation, but also engendering leadership and initiative taking skills, problem orientation and management skills and a deeper insight into the complexities of the environmental problems we have today. The workshop was conducted by a group of students of SESM where interactive sessions, practical activities and thought provoking dialogues were used to arm the participants with the skills necessary to become the change makers of tomorrow.

The response and feedback from the participants in Mokamia were inspiring and many of them expressed the desire to take part in more such programs that Department of Environmental Science (SESM) and OECE design for youth.
