Mohammed Shahabuddin
The Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh & Chancellor
Mohammed Shahabuddin, born in 1949 in Pabna, is the 16th President of Bangladesh. He has a Masters degree in Psychology and an LLB, and was politically active from his student days. He hoisted Bangladesh's flag in 1971, joined Mujib Bahini, and protested Bangabandhu's assassination in 1975. Imprisoned and tortured post-protest, he later served in the judiciary and Anti-Corruption Commission. A life member of various organizations in Pabna, he is married to Dr. Rebeka Sultana, with a son and twin grandsons. His hobbies include travel and reading.
Didar A Husain
Chairman, Board of Trustees
Didar A Husain is the Chairman of the IUB Board of Trustees. A Freedom Fighter, he is recognized at the Liberation War Museum. Following his retirement from the Bangladesh Army as Major, he joined the textiles business, currently leading Rahim Textile Mills Limited. He is also Managing Director and Chairman of PCS Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. and Cannon Pest Management Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. A former VP at BTMA and a member of Bangladesh Diabetic Association's National Council, he is committed to fostering IUB's educational excellence through teamwork and hard work.
Tanweer Hasan, PhD
Vice Chancellor
Tanweer Hasan, Rolf A. Weil Professor of Finance at Roosevelt University and Vice Chancellor of IUB since 2021, holds a B.Com from Dhaka University, an MBA from Baylor University, a Harvard Management Program and a PhD from University of Houston. With over 40 publications, he contributes to journals like Studies in Economics and Finance. His influence extends to 37 countries, consulting for banks and agencies. He's a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Master Analyst in Financial Forensics. A family man, he enjoys travel, golf, and art collection.
Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD
Pro Vice Chancellor
Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has a distinguished career in academia and development management. He holds a Ph.D. with Distinction from the University of Wales Swansea and has earned numerous scholarships, including the UK Commonwealth Scholarship. His postdoctoral research includes the University of Oxford. Dr. Khan has held senior roles at IUCN, UNDP, and ADB, published over 170 works, and extensively consulted for international organizations, contributing to national policy and training institutions.
