IUB Hosts Workshop on Research and Education Network
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted a training program ‘Eduroam Institutional Radius Server (IRS) Configuration’ at the university’s own campus from November 6-7, 2019. Bangladesh Research and Education Network-BdREN organized training program. Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. The key feature of ‘Eduroam’ is that the teachers and students of any educational institution can access the internet free of cost using local credential from any network in the country and abroad with connection to the service.
Two-day training program was inaugurated by Prof. Milan Pagon, Vice Chancellor (Acting), IUB who was the Chief Guest of the session and delivered his speech to the participants. Mohammad Tawrit, CEO, BdREN was present as Special Guest. Mr. Mahfuz Ahmed, Head, Central Information Technology Services-CITS at IUB conducted the inaugural session.
A total of 30 engineers from different universities including IUB and other institutions & organizations participated in the program. Out of this, 22 were IT personnel from 17 universities. This is the first time BdREN organized such training program in any a private university outside of UGC, in particular.
