IUB and University of Hyogo exchange MoU to foster sharing of knowledge and resources
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and the University of Hyogo, Japan, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 4, 2023 at the IUB campus to cement a partnership to foster the mutual sharing of knowledge and resources.
IUB Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, and Dr. Syoji Kobashi, Director, Advanced Medical Engineering Research Institute (AMERI) and Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, University of Hyogo, exchanged the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. The MoU was signed by IUB Vice Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, and Hironori Fujisawa, PhD, Dean, Graduate School of Science Engineering, University of Hygo in April 2023.
The purpose of this agreement is to jointly advance educational and research goals based on mutual interests and to enhance the relationship between Dhaka and the Hyogo Prefecture. Under the MoU, there will be exchange of students and staff members for teaching, joint research, academic training, capacity building, workshops, symposia, sharing information, publications, discussion papers, and so on. The exchange of students will be promoted in three categories: study abroad for credit; study abroad for research; and study tour and language study abroad.
Under the agreement, Nushrat Afroz Roza, a third-year student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at IUB, will be going to the University of Hyogo in September 2023 as an exchange student with a Japanese government scholarship. She will spend her last undergrad year at Hyogo in the “study abroad for research” category.

Prof. Dr. Meherun Ahmed, Dean of IUB’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship; Prof. Dr. Bokhtiar Ahmed, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. J.M.A Hannan, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Public Health; Dr. Md. Ashraful Amin, Professor at the Department of CSE; Dr. Mahady Hasan, Associate Professor & Head the Department of CSE; Dr. Qudrate Khoda, Associate Professor of Social Sciences and Humanities; and Mr. Rashedur Rahman, PhD, Research Fellow, Graduate School of Engineering, University of Hyogo, attended the program among others.
Mr. Obydullah Al Marjuk, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, moderated the program. Dr. Saadia Binte Alam, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at IUB and an alumna of the University of Hyogo, delivered a vote of thanks. The event was organized by the Office of International Programs and Relations and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IUB.
