IEEE Day 2016 observed at IUB
IEEE Day 2016 was observed at Independent University, Bangladesh in its Bashudhara Campus on November 03, 2016. The day-long programme started with a colorful rally by the students followed by official inauguration, cake cutting, IEEE sessions, idea pitching challenge, circuit debugging challenge, Matlab coding challenge, project showcasing, games events and a cultural show. Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head of EEE department welcomed the inaugural gathering. Prof. Shahriar Khan, Dean of School of Engineering and Computer Science officially inaugurated the programme in favor of the chief guest, Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of IUB. Dr. Lamia Iftekhar, Vice Chair of IEEE BDS WIE Affinity Group attended the program as the special guest. Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Counselor of IEEE IUB Student Branch spoke in the inaugural session among others. The IEEE day was made open by cutting a cake in honor of the day. In the first IEEE session, Dr. Lamia Iftekhar conducted an interactive presentation on IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group. In the second IEEE session, two honorable guest speakers from India, Mr. Sudeendra Koushik, Vice Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section & Co-Chair of IEEE R10 Innovation Committee, and Ms. Pragya Dixit, PhD in Entrepreneurship conducted an interactive workshop on “Career Development with IEEE, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. In the evening, students from EEE department perform in a colorful cultural show. Finally, Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head of EEE department and Mentor of IEEE IUB Student Branch distributed prizes among the winners of different competitions. The IEEE Day 2016 was jointly organized by the IEEE IUB Student Branch, IEEE IAS IUB Chapter and IEEE IUB SB WIE Affinity Group in cooperation with the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. A total of more than 250 students were participated in the day-long event.
