EEE Students Visit Energypac® Transformers Plant in Gazipur
A group of 49 students and 5 faculty members from the Electrical & Electronic (EEE) Engineering Department of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) visited Energypac® Transformer Manufacturing Plant in Baruipara, Gazipur on 20 November, 2014 as a part of their academic programme. In this trip to one of the largest transformer manufacturing plant in Bangladesh, students were accompanied by their faculty members Dr. Shahriar Khan, Dr. Abdur Razzak, Ms. Saila Israt Annie, Ms. Tahsin Ferdous Ara Nayna and Ms. Shougat Nazbeen Khan. The tour was coordinated by the IEEE IUB Student Branch counselor and Associate Professor of EEE department Dr. Abdur Razzak. During the visit, the students were briefed on the step-by-step production process of power transformers, cast resin transformers, instrument transformers, isolators, switch gears and protection devices by the factory engineers. The trip also continued to different testing laboratories including transformer oil testing lab and high voltage and impulse test lab. The question and answer session provided good insight into the manufacturing and testing of these important electrical devices. On the whole, the trip was an excellent opportunity for the students of EEE major to find practical applications of their classroom-based knowledge.
