A seminar on “A Hierarchical Transactive Energy Management Framework for Residential Microgrids” was held at the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on Tuesday, 17 January, 2017. Dr. Apel Mahmud, Lecturer at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia was the speaker of the seminar. Dr. Mahmud spoke about one of the important aspects of recent time “Power Saving” through energy sharing and transactions among neighbours as well as using grids. He also demonstrated how a three-level hierarchical structure can lead to a residential microgrid for better future. Later Dr. Mahmud met the vice chancellor of IUB and faculty members of EEE department to discuss about possible academic and research collaboration. Faculty members from the EEE, CSE & Physical Sciences Dept. and approximately 70 students from SECS attended the seminar at the Lecture Gallery of the School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS). Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head of EEE department introduced the speaker to the audience and handed over a token of appreciation to the speaker. The seminar was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, the branch counselor of IEEE IUB Student Branch.
